TEXT

"Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world".

  2. The education is very important because change the people. Education is not only what we learn at school but what we‘re able practice outside it. The education is the single way to hope change the world. In Brazil the education is bad and I think that this problem is fault the politician because they don’t think in the population only stuff their breast-pocket and this a serious problem because only the education form critically people able confront and change this reality.

  3. To include people this the new world is just one function within many fuctions that education has. The technology is a requirement to operate, relate and understand with the new machines that are indispensable to a good development of the humanity. What can't happen is the education has just this focus, forgeting that before everything the education is to form critic citizens and isn't to form machines that control machines.

  6. "... critical pedagogy is, basically, study oppression in the education..."
    "... dialog..."
"... is about teacher asking why..."
"... is not the most populary thing to do in education..."

These are some definitions related to critical pedagogy that I took watching the video.

I believe that education is a tool to make better people and critical pedagogy help us to get it.

Education is not about teach some subjects to students. To me, like I sad before, education is about to form people.

When we use critical pedagogy, we can help students to think what they can do to get a better world. And this is another task of the education: transform the world.

Education, like shows the piece of video text before, is about dialog, about teachers ask us why. It is about think, not memorize. Personally, I just have this experience in my graduation and masters, and not because the system impose me to do this, but because I realize that I need this.

Like privileged people that can see this we have the obligation to be different and teach people to think too.

    Hugs to all

  7. The importance of education is undeniable. Education is the process of learning and knowing, which is not restricted to our school text-books. It is a process and continues through our life. Even the regular happenings and events around us educate us, in one or the other way. The education is not only problem of politician, but a good education depends of parents, students, society, schools and others. Education is the key to human advancement. The real benefit to education is not whether you will ever use geometry or biology in the real world, it is that you learn problem solving skills, and how to find answers to your questions, is to develop critical thinks, to fight for a better future in our life.

  8. The process of education is one of the most important parts of the process of critical, social, and moral thinking.
Unfortunately, in Brazil, our authorities are not 100% involved with education, as they should be.
Because of this, Brazil is the 70th in the HDI (Human Development Index), and we have 10% of illiterates.
Like every problem in Brazil, the base of them are the politics. Of course that they are not the main problem, and they are not the only that can change this problems.
We, critical citizens, that were formed in the critical pedagogy, and in the critical thinking, we have the power to change it. And we must change it.

  9. In fact everybody has one element to add about this topic. That´s because it´s about our live. Social live means exchange, interaction. On this experimental camp we learn a lot, and that´s why we live in society.
The shool is where we oficially study. In fact we learn thousands of things about science, the world, social relations ship. All this is important for live and I adimire the teachers that works hardlly on estimulating there students and emproving on then a cretical reflection. This education position is very important to because prepare people for life but those it promote a conscious evolution?
I undestand that the answer is: no. If that was true we probably were living in a very diferent world. I mean, if a critical pedagogy was really eficient for the humans beens needs, things would be diferent.

  11. If we want to change something in the world or even in our lifes the only way is trough the education. The education makes people become more aware about what really happens around them, and than they can choose do something to be better or to change wrong things. But I think that education also can be a way to persuade peolple that are submissive, in other words, the education in bad hands can be an instrument of dominance and we can see that everyday. It's more easy that people are stupid and don't questioning about nothing than they can have a little bit of education and bother the "powerful men". That's why education in Brazil is a shame and nobody do something to change this reality, because it's so comfortable to the government.

  12. Learn to read is not the only thing involved in education and unfortunately many teachers think so. Learning to read is just the first step. Create a critical sense and own power to check the information should be the main goal of the teacher in front of the students. If they learn how to differentiate reviews, gain knowledge from reading and stand up to situations, showing an opinion, then they will have characteristics of a person well educated.

  13. Nowadays is hard for me to talk about the importance of education, because when I look around me I only see problems (class room whit a lot of students, students that goes to school only for eat or because his parents obliged them; absence of basic material like books, chalk, etc.; teachers who don’t give class; students which don’t respect the others and the teachers, etc).

On the other hand, government transformed education in numbers (numbers of students in schools; numbers of students who give pass; ‘reduction’ of illiterate people, etc). For get it, have been created programs to improve education like Bolsa Família, for example. But this ‘number success’ do not means that reality education really changed. In truth government doesn’t care about conditions of education institutions, only whit numbers.

So, in this context, how can I think about the importance of education? (It is hard)

Education is important because help people to see, ‘feel’, understand world. So, only when people to ‘take part’ the world, they can to perform, to action, to transform and to change the world. But, to make its happen is necessary firstly change education conception. In this way, education don’t have restrict only in subjects, but in human values, critical thinking, culture, etc. How I’ve just exposed, is a hard and long way!

  14. Well, education is extremelly important in people's lives, it is the tool that allows us to become whatever we want to be. It isn't the only tool, but is a very good way to achieve the goals we have in life.

With education a new world is born, a world that has uncountable possibilities, a different world that where you can be somebody with content, a person that can be noticed by only knowing what you love to know.

It is very easy to observe that the countries that are considered the "first world countries", are those that have a high level in education, a high level in technology, a high level science study and all of those are achieve through education. A country that has a high quality education has a different kind of population, has more social equality therefore has less poverty and finally has a different kind of leaders that are focused on the improvement of the country and not ONLY on the improvement of their own banking count.

I think that only education can save Brazil, let's make this clear, that this education is NEVER olny about general knowledge. Education is more than this, it is the behavior, the moral values, human values, fraternity, humanity, honesty and respect. If a little bit of this can be passed ahead and become rooted in people anything is possible in order to make everything better.

  16. I agree with Lidiane's scraps that nowadays education is just numbers, and to change something it's important to change the conception of how is education. But like Ludmila sayed we just change something through the education, and the video show us one way to change this reality.

Critical pedagogy doesn't mean stop teaching theories, but learn how the issues about race, sexuality, capitalism and social inequalities could be discussed.

Studying and learning as a critical way bring to us and to students, the opportunity to develop with the books, teachers, with ourselves and especially within the system that we're involved, because like the video showed we are allowed to ask "why I am learning this?"

So, education could be the weapon to make the knowledge accessible to everybody. People should talk about what their studies in schools and how it's related to life,, so participate in the transformation, being a better person, creating the spaces to learn and build a better world (without opression) with the political view of each other.

  17. For me the critcal education is a huge step for the social equality. If the people can think, they will undestand theirs rights and will fight for it. A person how knows think can learn anything and can do anything that he/she want to. The solution for the most problems begins whith education, and a good aducation, a critical education that go besides to know read and do acounts, that kind education can change people, can change lives.

  18. Through education we can open ways whereas it envolve several segments of our lifes can be since scholl or professional aspects until morals aspects. And this opening of ways is the translation of liberty.
The education provide us liberty as it awakens us to think! More than that when encourages us to act with examples of successes and failures in the course of our history showing we are unique but we are not alone.
With the education we supported mathematically, philosophically, historically, humanly, literally (rs). And so education must transmit security.
So it is not just a pedagogical strategy. It is necessary a family base, a circle of friends, time of life and mainly people determined to teach or "educational" (rs).

  19. I believe that education is a wide process and can carry any people – younger or older – to a better life. Education is able to change the different realities those are hidden behind the scared minds and overload brains.
To teach or to learn the criticism thinking subjects people can become the process more easy using their own histories, maybe until hitting better results than if they use so different thoughts created in other situations from other cultures.
Understanding themselves and the relationship with their own society people is capable to produce critical points of view and thus become themselves in active actors to change. Those points are the weapon to transform social realities, this powerful weapon lives in the heart of all people and education is the fuel to wake up it.

  20. Education has always been and still is an instrument of power. The education of good quality guarantees equal conditions for all people through it and conquered our greatest right as a citizen the right to understand the world around us by improving our living conditions in their own right. Unfortunately we are reaping the fruits of the past, in which education has always been sidelined in the various governments, but on the contrary, new horizons are opening up, our generation is increasingly concerned about the future of our country and are changing the methods education, encouraging participation in the classroom, exploring the potential of intelligence of students and aware of the need to contribute to a better world.

  21. The education is a hope to change the inequality. But this change is mined for the capitalism, because the people with a critical education can make more protests and pressure to change their cituation.
Then when the government do not invest in the quality of education and much less in a critical education they want protect their power. Meanwhile powerful people just to guide the cattle to where their wants go and the cattle do not do nothing to resist.
Then who use the ideas of critical education have a strategical role for change the actually situation of the world. But I just see the tradictional teacher for all places!!! Then where are the critical teacher?

First of all, I think the black skin is not problem in Brazil because the black people and white people have the same origin in our country. we could not see the seperation between the black and white people I afreid it is impossible and all most population in Brazil have a mixture of black , white and indian. We do not have a reazon to demand one of the others because the people of Brazil have the same origen.
Secondly, the Brazilian people have some economic problem , because here we have the worst system of distribution economic. The minoritary people are very rich and the workers have low salary. There are some unemployed person in our country that was suffer without the politic for the unemployed people.
In conclusion, our country there are the rich land, the good and hosptable people and peice earth, but without the better system politic economic.
